Phat Fiber

Check out my most recent discovery, Phat Fiber. Phat Fiber is a mystery box of fancy yarns and yarn goodies. Here’s the deal as far as I can tell so far. Phat Fiber picks a theme for each month. Then their contributors send in samples that go along with that theme. These could be handspun yarn, handpainted yarn, handpainted roving, stitch markers, etc. Basically if someone who works with yarn might love it, it might be sent in. Then Phat Fiber divides these samples into individual boxes that fall into one of three categories. Fluff, for people who love roving. Stitches, for people who love yarn. And Mixed, for people who love it all! Then, once a month, at a time and day that is released by email a few days prior, the boxes go on sale. They call it a box drop. Luckily there are two drops on sale day because these things … Continue reading

My Newest Obsession

So I’ve had a Pinterest account for months. I even had one back when you still had to be “invited” to join. I’d heard all the hype and people talking about spending hours at a time on the site and honestly, I didn’t get it. At. All. Over the months I’d tried it out a few times, but I still couldn’t imagine spending more than about 5 minutes browsing the site and even at that, it seemed like I’d never be on there enough to ever remember to do any of the things I’d “pinned”. About a week ago that all changed. I was still hyped up from the organization I had accomplished in the basement but WAY too tired to actually get up and physically get anything done. I figured it was as good a time as any to try to figure out Pinterest. I decided to go in and organize my boards (I still had a … Continue reading

Coupon Chaos

So with the many things that have been going on over the last week and a half I’ve had a lot of ideas for posts, just not a lot of time to actually sit down and type. (One of these days I suppose I’ll have to break down and get a smart phone, but I’m holding out as long as I can due to my outrageous stubborn streak and senseless anxiety over having to learn new technologies.) My family and I went on vacation last week during my oldest son’s Spring break. When we returned we had a lot of obligations to meet and places to go, but by late Sunday afternoon things had calmed down and our lives were finally ours again. And then I was greeted by this   This monster is the stack of uncut coupon inserts that had been accumulating throughout my house for just over a month. Now … Continue reading

Sunday Shopping Marathon

Sunday is typically a shopping day for me, at least in the morning. I check the ads and coupons in the Sunday paper that we get delivered and decide if I need to run out and get more papers. No exciting coupons for me this week, but I grabbed the Rite Aid ad because I had $15 of +UP rewards that I needed to use. They have One-A-Day vitamins on sale this week Buy One, Get One half off and if you buy $30 worth you get a $10 +UP. Both my husband and I take these vitamins and my oldest son is starting to as well. However, I have NONE in my stockpile so I was pretty excited about this deal. I was pretty short on vitamin coupons so I headed for the computer and found some $1.75 off coupons. I printed 4 (plus a $1 off from the Rite … Continue reading
